PRIVACY OF CONSUMER FINANCIAL INFORMATION POLICY:

Lewis Clark Credit Union is committed to making available financial products and services that will enable our members to meet their financial needs and reach their financial goals. Protecting personal information and using it in a manner consistent with member expectations is a high priority for everyone associated with our credit union. The following privacy principles were established to maintain the security, integrity and confidentiality of our member's personal financial information.

To ensure that our members can rely upon the quality of products and services we make available, Lewis Clark Credit Union stands behind the following privacy policy:

We do not share the nonpublic personal information of our current or previous members and nonmember customers with affiliates or nonaffiliated third parties except as permitted or required by law.

  • Lewis Clark Credit Union routinely collects and retains the information we obtain from member account applications, transaction history and from consumer reports. This information helps us to establish and administer member accounts, satisfy certain regulatory requirements and better understand our members so that we may provide additional or improved products and services. We will collect only the personal information that is necessary to conduct our business.
  • Lewis Clark Credit Union will protect our members' personal information. Our credit union will maintain strong security controls to ensure that member information in our files and computers is protected. Where appropriate, we will use security-coding techniques to protect against unauthorized access to personal records, ensure accuracy and integrity of communications and transactions, and protect member confidentiality. We maintain security standards and procedures that conform with applicable regulations and industry practices. These security standards and procedures are routinely tested to verify the integrity of our systems.

    Access to personally identifiable financial information is limited to employees with a specific business reason for utilizing this data. Our employees are educated about the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy. If necessary, we take appropriate steps to enforce our employees' responsibility to protect member information.
  • Members of Lewis Clark Credit Union will always have access to their personal information. Members of our credit union will always have the opportunity to review their information and make necessary changes to ensure that our records are complete and accurate.

    Lewis Clark Credit Union will adhere to the privacy policies and practices as described in this policy for members who terminate their membership or become inactive members
  • Lewis Clark Credit Union will partner only with businesses that follow strict confidentiality requirements. The businesses we select will offer products designed to enhance our members' economic well-being. Under no circumstances will we authorize these firms to charge your account without your express consent, and we will not sell member information to telemarketing firms.
  • We are required by law (NCUA Rules and Regulations, Part 716 Privacy of Consumer Financial Information and Appendix) to provide our members a privacy notice that explains how we collect, use and safeguard our members' personal financial information.
  • To meet this requirement, Lewis Clark Credit Union will send the initial notice with the December 31, 2000 statements. Annually, thereafter, our privacy notice will be included in the second quarter newsletter sent to every member of our credit union.

We are required by law to give you this privacy notice to explain how we collect, use and safeguard your personal financial information. We routinely collect and retain the information we obtain from your account applications, transaction history (for deposits, loans, credit cards, etc.) and from consumer reports. This information helps us:

    (Example: We ask for personally identifying information to protect your accounts from fraud.)
  • To satisfy certain regulatory requirements.
    (Example: When you open an account that pays interest, we are required by the Internal Revenue Service to obtain your social security number.)
  • Better understand you so that we may provide you with additional or improved products and services.(Example: We require information concerning your credit history and your assets to determine if you qualify for loan approval.)

If you terminate your membership or become an inactive member, we will adhere to the privacy policies and practices as described in this notice.
